MEETINGS

  • WHEN: 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each Month 
  • WHERE: Knights of Columbus Hall 
  • TIME: 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm 
  • Mountain Lion, Navigators and Adventurer age boys may have some offsite events for one of the meeting nights. The unit leader will coordinate these events with parents ahead of time and the dates can be viewed on the troop calendar.

  1. Come to a meeting
    • Contact TL@allsaintsva.org and find out when the next meeting is
    • Talk to the leaders at the meeting and find out more about us
    • If you decide you would like to join our troop, hurray!!! We are so happy to welcome you. Please continue with the following steps to be fully registered
  2. Register on the website
  3. Get signed up with our communications to stay connected
    • If we do not already know, please reach out and let us know you want to join and we will add you to the following;
      • Flocknote: This is the primary means of communication we use. It sends out messages through your email.
      • Calendar: The troop has an electronic calendar through Team Up that will sync with your Apple or Google Calendar.
  4. Fill out medical forms and return them to registrar
    • Fill out the medical form found at the bottom of the page and return it to an TL Board Member (Make sure to select the correct form. There is one for youth and one for adults)
    • These forms are required by both the Diocese and TL to participate. These forms will be kept confidential and stored in a secure location
  5. Pay dues
    • (Cost does not need to be a limiting factor for families; assistance is available please reach out to a POC below to discuss.)
    • Dues Breakdown:
      • Annual Membership Fee for Youth to Trail Life- $34
        • Paid to TL National for registration in TL and TL insurance for the youth participant
      • Annual Membership Fee for Adult to Trail Life- $38.00
        • Paid to TL National for registration in TL and TL insurance for the adult participant
      • All Saints Troop 1188 Fee – Participation Fee $50
        • Paid to Troop 1188 to cover the cost of troop activities (Awards, Program Cost, etc.)
        • $150 Family max
  6. Buy Uniform and Handbook
    • Can be found at the Trail Life Store: https://shop.traillifeusa.com/
    • Woodlands (5-12yrs / Grade K -5) Green Shirt (Polo or Tee) and Hat or Class A uniform.
    • Navigators (12-14yrs /Grade 6-8) Gray Shirt (Polo or Tee) and Hat or Class A uniform.
    • Adventures (14-18 yrs/ Highschool) Blue Shirt (Polo or Tee) and Hat or Class A uniform.
    • The boys do not attach awards to the Class A uniform, so the uniform is optional but a popular choice.
    • National or regional hosted events may have a uniform requirement to attend the event.
  7. Become VIRTUS Certified and sign up to volunteer
    • At least one adult from each family needs to get VIRTUS trained through the church. This involves a standard background check facilitated by All Saints and a 3 hour VIRTUS training class which will help to ensure the safety of all our participants and allow the adult to interact with the kids. These classes are held all over the diocese and can be accessed as soon as the background check is complete.

      • For position title, use “Scout Leader”
    • At least one adult from each family is required to volunteer for the troop.  These opportunities range from  “behind the scenes” to unit leader and everything in between.  If the volunteer position involves interaction with the kids, this adult must be VIRTUS trained as above. Talk to a committee member to see what positions are open.
